While Supervision and Consultation may be very helpful, I believe that individual therapy for the therapist is of greatest benefit. This is an opportunity for the therapist to really have their own therapeutic time and to focus on personal areas of self-growth where a greater degree of self regulation can only lead to an enhanced sense of competency and self-efficacy in working with their clients. A helpful approach in this regard is to become aware of and ultimately to discharge nervous system activation such as to promote increased self regulation.
